Puja Dey: Building Strength, Stability, and Dreams

Puja Dey’s journey is a powerful story of resilience, self-respect, and determination — a true reflection of the spirit of Loreto Rainbow Homes Foundation.

Puja came to Rainbow Home at a very young age. In 2003, she was admitted to Loreto Sealdah, and in 2004 she moved to Loreto House Rainbow Home. As the daughter of a single mother, Puja faced rejection and hardship early in life. Her father, struggling with alcoholism and violence, left the family when her younger sister was just one month old. Being girl children, Puja and her sister were not accepted by the extended family. Even at her maternal grandparents’ home, she felt unwelcome.

It was through a gatekeeper that Puja’s mother learned about Rainbow Home — a turning point that changed her life forever

At Rainbow Home, Puja found what every child deserves: security, nutritious meals, emotional care, and most importantly, education. Under this protective roof, she discovered her confidence and the determination to prove that a girl child can achieve anything. She stayed at the Home until 2014, completing her Class XII and stepping into the world with courage.

The real struggle began after school. Puja was determined to pursue higher education, but her mother’s income was not enough to support the household. She secured admission at Loreto College, Kolkata on her own. To pay her fees and manage expenses, she worked at events after college hours, balancing studies and financial responsibilities with remarkable strength.

In 2017, after completing her graduation, Puja began her professional journey. Her first full-time role was as a PR Executive at Beauty Concepts Pvt. Ltd., a niche luxury perfume and cosmetics distribution company operating across India. She worked there for five years, building confidence and professional expertise.

Today, Puja works with Flipkart as a Customer Service Executive, a role she has held for the past two and a half years, ensuring financial stability for her family.

Yet Puja never let go of her creative dream. Alongside her full-time job, she started a small boutique from her home. With dedication and passion for fashion designing, she now creates customized bridal outfits on order. What began as a small initiative is steadily growing, and she dreams of transforming it into a full-fledged fashion business in the near future.

In 2021, Puja got married, and this May she was blessed with a baby boy. Today, she proudly says she has a happy and secure family by God’s grace. One of her biggest achievements has been purchasing a house for her mother — a milestone that ended years of living in rented homes and brought lasting stability to her family.

From a little girl who once faced rejection to a financially independent professional, entrepreneur, wife, mother, and proud homeowner — Puja’s journey embodies the mission of Loreto Rainbow Homes Foundation.
